Choosing implants and size, the surgery itself, and what recovery is really like.

Breast augmentation, told straight by someone who's had it.

I'm booked and now I've convinced myself the size I chose is too small. How did you stop second-guessing before the op?

Some of you helped me on my sizing thread a few weeks back (the whole "I thought cc WAS the size" saga). Quick recap: measured base, ended up choosing 330 moderate-plus after a sizer session, felt great about it, booked for the autumn. That should be the happy ending.

Except now it's locked in I can't stop poking at it. I keep opening the sizer photos on my phone and thinking hmm, is that actually enough, did I talk myself into the sensible option because everyone here scared me off 400. Then ten minutes later I look again and think no it's perfect and I'm being insane. Back and forth, all day, every day. It's a number I CAN'T CHANGE now without a whole conversation, and that's exactly why my brain won't leave it alone.

For those who were happy on the far side: how did you get from "booked" to actually calm before the op? Did anyone go back and change their size this close, or is that a red flag that I'm overthinking? And be honest, did any of you secretly still wish you'd gone up a size once it was done, because that's the fear.

Lauren I could have typed this word for word. I agonised 300 to 350 for MONTHS, did three sizer sessions, chose 325, and then spent the last few weeks before surgery exactly where you are now, convinced I'd played it too safe.

Two things. One, the pre-op panic is a different animal from the choosing. Choosing was maths and photos. This is just anxiety looking for a target, and "the size" is the most convenient target because it's the one number you feel you locked yourself into. Two, I'm now four and a bit months post and I am so glad I didn't go up. The volume I'd fantasised about looked huge on my actual frame in the sizers, I just couldn't feel that truth through the pre-op fear. You already did the honest work at the sizer session. The 2am voice hasn't seen your ribcage.

The "did you secretly wish you'd gone bigger" question, honestly: no. And I say that as someone who also flip-flopped right up to the morning of. What helped me was reframing it, the sizers in a fitted top were the real decision, everything since is just my nerves relitigating a case that's already closed.

Also the going-bigger regret you're picturing runs both ways, plenty of people wish they'd gone smaller once the tissue's carrying it for a decade. Nobody posts those as loudly.

Genuinely just here to say the constant phone-checking is the trap, not the size. I did the same, zooming in on sizer photos looking for reassurance and finding new doubt every time. Put the photos away. You decided with a surgeon and a fitted t-shirt, not with a pinch-zoom at midnight.

Direct answer: what you're describing is not a red flag, it's close to universal, and I say that as someone who went round in circles for years and still had a wobble in the final stretch. Doubting a locked-in size before surgery is the norm in this section, in both directions, and it very rarely means the size is actually wrong.

Let me name what's going on, because it depends on a few things and the timing is the biggest one. Right now you're judging a decision using a preview that doesn't behave like the result. Sizers in a fitted top are the closest honest read you get before surgery, and you already did that and landed on 330. Everything since is your brain relitigating a closed case with worse information (phone photos, other women's ribcages, a 2am mood). The reference point that actually matters won't even exist for months: implants sit high and tight at first and only settle into their real shape over roughly 3 to 6 months, so anyone's true "is this the right size" moment is a good while after the op, not before it. That's laid out in what results really look like over time.

On the concrete questions. Changing your size this close: possible, but do it in exactly one place, a conversation with your surgeon, not the forum and not your own spiral. If a specific, consistent doubt survives being said out loud to them, that's worth a proper sizer redo. A doubt that flips to "no it's perfect" ten minutes later, like yours is doing, is anxiety, not information. The honest ranges people quote, very roughly 130 to 150cc per cup size on an average frame, are loose estimates at best because cup letters aren't standardised, so chasing "one size up" is chasing a number that doesn't mean what it feels like it means. The guide to choosing implant size goes through why the footprint, not the cc, drove your surgeon to 330.

The exception where I'd actually act: a doubt that's stable for days, points the same direction every time, and comes with a concrete reason ("my surgeon flagged my tissue could take more," say), rather than a mood that reverses by teatime. That belongs in front of your surgeon before the date. Everything you've written, though, reads like the normal pre-op noise, and the far side of this section is full of people who felt exactly this and were glad they trusted the sizer, not the panic.

Okay this thread did the job. I deleted the sizer photos off my home screen so I'd stop compulsively opening them, which sounds daft but has genuinely cut the spiralling in half. Rang the clinic and asked to talk it through rather than silently stewing, and the nurse basically said the same as Claire, that pre-op size wobbles are the most normal thing they hear and they'd redo the sizers if I wanted but nothing I'd said sounded like a real change. I don't think I need to. Sticking with 330. Thank you all for talking me down, again.
